Today's Swimfit Endurance Session can be a massive challenge, or if you feel like an easier/recovery session, this one is for you too!
After an easy warm up, followed by underwater switches to set up with a long and glidey stroke, we go into a few 50's or 25's where we count our strokes. Don't do anything special on the first lap, just count how many strokes it takes you (counting both arms). The next 50 or 25 the challenge is to get the number down, and down on the next one and even lower on the last one. This will challenge you to get more out of each stroke. Don't cheat by kicking harder or going further underwater.
The main set is pretty straightforward; 3 or 4 sets of 3 x 200 or 100 Freestyle, descend 1 - 3. This means that your first 200 or 100 Freestyle is easy, the second moderate pace and the third one your fastest. We go through this set 3 or 4 times. If you're up for a good challenge, try to make your easy a bit faster, your moderate a bit faster and your fast a bit faster each set.
If you're more so looking for just an easy endurance set, just go a little bit faster each distance. It's always good to have a little play with your pacing, but just don't go too hard.
Definitely time yourself in this set, to make sure you actually go faster when you try harder. Sometimes when we make more effort we lose our efficiency and don't actually go any faster.
