Thanks for checking in again or welcome for any first timers! You came to right place to download your FREE May Swimfit session, but as you might know I like to give you a bit of on update on Swimfit and life in general to start of with :)
In last month's blog I promised to have this years Swimfit Four Mile Beach Ocean Swim organised, and guess what? Registration is open! Head down to the event page for more information and to register for one of the following swims: Sheraton Grand Mirage Port Douglas Resort Four Mile Swim (6.4km), Mirage Country Club Two Mile Swim (3.2km), The Reef Marina One Mile Swim (1.6km) and the Tourism Port Douglas 500M Swim. All swims are taking place in Port Douglas on Sunday, 10 September and guess what... I cannot wait to see you all there!
And if you follow Swimfit on Instagram or Facebook you might have already seen that I've been down to Sydney to compete in the Sydney Harbour Splash 5Km swim. It was an awesome weekend with the swim on Sunday morning in beautiful Rose Bay. The whole event was organised so well and the conditions were just perfect! It's always great to see a few awesome swimmers taking part in these events like Jessica Ashwood and Jarrod Poort and of course trying to keep up :) I felt strong in the entire race, loving every minute of minute and of course enjoying the views of the Harbour Bridge and Opera House along the way. I finished 4th overall and 1st in my age group in a time of 1.23.51, only 3 minutes behind Jess! A big thank you to my coach, Ben Eagle, for getting me ready for this event and of course my sponsors for this trip: Sheraton Grand Mirage Port Douglas Resort, Sportspower, QT Port Douglas, Tourism Port Douglas and Choo Choos Cafe.
The next event is the Cairns Mudcrabs Crater Lake Classic at lake Barrine on May 7th and of course the Quicksilver Green Island Ocean Swim on June 8th. Which swims are on your calendar? I've got some great sessions to get you ready for your next swim, let me know and I'll be happy to help you out! Read more about my Online Swimfit Program here.
This month's Free Swimfit Session is a great variable pace set focusing on your body position while swimming freestyle. By starting every 50M with your pull buoy you place your body in the perfect horizontal position, then when you let your pull buoy go try to keep your body in that same position. You know you're doing it right if you feel that your breaking the water with your heels when kicking. If you ever have any questions about the session, please feel free to contact me via email, phone or social media!
As winter is coming at us and the pools are cooling down, do yourself a favour and keep swimming. I know that first moment to getting in a cold pool isn't that great, but just remember how good you always feel after a good swim session. Do it for yourself, because you want to feel awesome and get ready for your next race!
